The quartet Latitude carries the listeners with their music into a world of floating and driving moods and sounds. By means of improvisation, new spaces and freedom are created, the unknown is traveled and new realms of jazz are discovered. In doing so, boundaries are deliberately pushed and broken, sound spaces are stretched, and the momentary is expanded.
Founded in 2019, first met at the Lucerne School of Music, the quartet has been pursuing a common vision of music ever since. The idiosyncrasy and independence of the four musicians* in combination with a close friendship create an authentic and unique new band sound. Their music is created through a shared vision of mood and space.
In longer improvisations, their own compositions form the basis to be spontaneously recombined, arranged and further developed. In doing so, the band members decide and initiate each moment autonomously, yet always with a strong sense of shared atmosphere. This constantly drives the music forth and creates multi-faceted moments.
